EpigenDx is a molecular diagnostic company specializing in the analysis of DNA methylation and gene expression located in Hopkinton, MA.   We are looking to hire a recent college graduate for a 3-6 month internship.  The person who fills this position, if a good fit for the company, will have the potential to be hired as a full-time employee in the future.

Position Definition:  Provides general laboratory support, sample receiving and logging, and laboratory supply ordering.  Will also gain exposure to PCR, real-time PCR, pyrosequencing, microarray, and NGS technologies as well.

• Assist scientists with molecular biology experiments and provide basic  lab support
• Perform genome database searches and compile sequence information into Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint slides
• Assist with sample and primer inventory management and reorganization
• Perform a variety of clerical and laboratory tasks such as sample receiving and logging

Candidate must be skilled in the following areas:

• Proficiency in all MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Basic understanding of NCBI, Ensembl, and UCSC genome browsers
• Experience with bioinformatics, statistical analysis, and R language is a plus
• Highly proficient in written and verbal communications
• Able to prioritize work to support several departments, facilitate the needs of numerous individuals, and meet deadlines
• Able to maintain multiple projects simultaneously, maintain pace and efficiency
• Strong organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential data
• Positive and professional demeanor in all interactions with both internal and external customers

 Experience:

• Recent college graduate preferred
• Molecular biology lab experience is a plus
• Experience working with and supporting multiple areas, able to work with little supervision, prioritize work
• Exceptional attention to detail, solid organizational skills, able to work effectively with complex processes and computer system

EpigenDx, Inc., located in Hopkinton, MA, is a molecular diagnostics company that designs, develops, and markets products and laboratory services for genomics and epigenomics researchers. EpigenDx’s technical team has developed and validated more than 10,000 DNA methylation and mutation analysis assays using Pyrosequencing and targeted NextGen sequencing methods.  EpigenDx, Inc. is currently looking to fill a Scientist position.

Job Description:

• Bioinformatic interpretation of NGS-based testing:
  • Understand current DNA methylation analysis pipelines
  • Optimize mutation analysis pipelines
  • Data analysis or other bioinformatic tools development as needed
• Product development for NGS-based products and services
• Gene expression analysis services
• Scientific communication, engagement, and marketing:
  • Market effort to promote the company’s services and products
    • Identify new marketing channels
    • Prepare presentation materials and communicate with existing or new clients
    • Prepare and perform webinars
  • Scientific writing:
    • Website content writing
    • Technote or whitepaper writing
    • Advertisement materials preparation

Qualifications/Requirements:

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Epigenomics, or related field
• At least 2 years professional experience required, including bioinformatics experience
• Solid technical ability and hands-on experience with DNA methods including purification, analytical and preparative gel electrophoresis, enzymatic manipulation, PCR, sequencing, and molecular cloning
• Experience with DNA methylation analysis, mutation analysis, and technologies with real-time PCR, digital PCR, GeneChip Array, and NextGen sequencers
• Creativity, flexibility, scientific curiosity, and the desire and ability to improve existing technology preferred
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff required
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills required
