Pyrosequencing can be used to determine the average amount of DNA methylation within a sample. Nearly half (45%) of the mammalian genome is constituted of repetitive elements (such as the LINE/Alu sequences in humans). As a result, examining these repetitive segments has become a standard method for determining global DNA methylation levels.
EpigenDx uses direct Pyrosequencing following bisulfite conversion of DNA to analyze methylation. All of our assays are pre-validated to ensure that neither methylation nor unmethylated DNA is amplified preferentially, allowing us to provide you with the best quality data and results.
