The Protein Phosphatase Mg2+/Mn2+ Dependent 1D (PPM1D) gene, also known as Wip1, suppresses NAPRT gene expression.
PPM1D is a well-known oncogene that has been found amplified or over-expressed in both breast cancer cell line and primary breast tumors, along with variety of cancers such as brain, ovarian, and gastrointestinal cancers. NAPRT (Nicotinate Phosphoribosyltransferase) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with NAPRT include Pellagra. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include ligase activity and nicotinate phosphoribosyltransferase activity.

NAD Levels Through NAPRT Function
Through the activity of SIRT1, NAD plays a vital role in a variety of biological processes. Although studies in mammals have shown that nicotinic acid (NA) is a better precursor than nicotinamide (Nam) for increasing tissue NAD levels, the molecular details of NA-based NAD production are still unknown. Partly due to lack of feedback inhibition of NAPRT but not NamPRT by NAD, NA elevates NAD levels through NAPRT function and, thus, protects the cells against stress.
